(Not Just A Man)

This
is yet another artwork from our composition class back in 2004. Now we
were tasked to create an artwork incorporating the shape circle. And I
suddenly saw Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian man in my mind. And so I
incorporated that along with my recurring theme of Jesus Christ works
and I was able to make this.
On the side you can see the there are words written in an unknown font. It's actually the font Symbols, and it reads, Jesus Christ Super Star. It was because I saw Jesus Christ Super Star at a young age, in a way that it was not really meant for kids for me to watch that kind of stuff even if it was about Jesus and yeah even if I was going to Catholic school. That stuff was kind of too avant-garde for my school. But of course the nuns and priests and teachers know about them, it's just that to them we'd always be like kids or cattle or sheep and they should shepherd us to safety all the time but never letting us know that the wolf can hide in sheep's clothing.
Never the less, if not for my favorite late aunt Mai-mai visiting and having to review the film, I wouldn't have gotten to see it as a kid. There's always something cool going on when she's around! Anyway I really couldn't remember most of the stuff I saw when I was a kid but one that stuck with me the most was that the roman guards had uzi and armalite rifles for weapons. And that just turned something on in my mind of what art could be like. Back when I was in college, I was able to watch JCSS again when my sister gave my mom a movie of it. And as I re-watched it, all my memories of it came back and it was even better than I remembered. It was really something, and to this day it's one of my favorite movies / plays of all time. and to this artwork I pay tribute to it. Also Jesus is not just a man, he's also a God.
