When I was still in college, I was experimenting on how to better play with the Masochism style I created. This is, for some of you who do not know, what I call the muscle paintings I make.

Masochism is derived from Leopold von Sacher Masoch a self proclaimed Masochist and a novelist who wrote Venus and Furs. He coined the term Masochism on that novel explaining that one can love pain and the pain can also be received by someone you love. In fact it was a love and pain relationship. That's what it means and from that I derived it to be the name of my muscle artworks for these pieces and figures are depicted being alive, unlike Dr. Von Hagens' real anatomy figures which he exhibits with no skin. Mine are skinned alive where his are donated corpses of people who he skins. Mine was willing victims as well but still alive and enduring the pain, constant pain that is.

In this particular piece I wanted to explore more of the white cross and try to give it new life on an artwork. MY whit crosses in art are made from pure ivory. And I wanted to experiment on them further. This piece was inspired the quote I read from Salvador Dali saying he wanted to depict a crucifixion no artist has ever done yet and that artwork was The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ

I wanted to do the same effect by placing the viewer behind at crucified and having to still feel his pain even though you only see his shoulders and limited limbs.

I made this piece on paper with pen and ink. I love drawing the human anatomy and that goes without saying that these skinned figures are such works of mine that come from the heart. It's simple as if you view them in a dream where nothing but the scene exists where the darkness eats the sky and you the viewer witnesses everything in a glance.
