Boy, when Megaman Zero was released I was like a fan boy with tears of joy. I really liked Zero back in the X series but man oh man, when he got his own series I flipped out.
The artwork on the series was quite outstanding too! The art style, the new look, I loved how Zero looked way different from the X series' Zero. It's 100 years after that so technology might have evolved in some way. but unlike the backwards jump of Star Wars A New Hope to the god forsaken prequels that looked way more advanced than the original trilogy (of course they were prequely made afterwards but that shouldn't be an excuse) it really fucks up the mind. That's one major thing that's wrong with it along with other stuff. But anyway, with this going forward in time was quite believable, it's awe inspiring. The way it was presented and told, and don't forget they're robots so they could live well off a hundred years but it gave reason for the art style to change not devolve.
On making this artwork, I had to keep those factors in mind. Sure it's still the same Megaman in a way but with this art style they had to be more slim and thinner. And the heavenly factor was a must, that really made battling the X Copy somewhat anti-religious or even God forbidden. In any case I loved the series and making a fan art off of it! And the concept of having an X Copy is quite something! He even has wings like an archangel. I could really go on. But let's just focus on how I made this piece.
Like the two previous Rockman/Megaman related artworks. I first penciled the sketch lightly and when I got the pose I want, and it wasn't easy, I tightened the pencils. And then I scanned it and colored it on MicrograFX. I added a lot of effects and lens flare on the piece because when your battling the X Copy in the game it feels like your battling an angel with his unknown mega buster charging up with elements flying around it like what you see above. It's madness but I beat him still so there you go, a fan art worthy of the awesomeness of the X Copy.
